Connecting GitHub for private repositories

By default, FLY8HT is completely anonymous to GitHub. It can clone any public repository without you signing in to anything. A private repository needs one extra, one-time step.

Connecting your account

1. Open Settings → GitHub and click Connect GitHub.
2. FLY8HT shows a real device code and opens github.com in your browser. This is GitHub’s own standard Device Flow, the same mechanism apps like the GitHub CLI use.
3. Enter the code on GitHub and approve the connection there, never inside FLY8HT itself.
4. Settings now shows “Connected as @your-username,” with your real avatar.

What this actually grants

Once connected, Home’s import form gains a “Browse your repositories” link, which opens a real, searchable list fetched from your account. Selecting one only fills in the URL field; importing it still goes through the exact same review-then-build flow as any public repository.

This connection is read-only cloning access. FLY8HT never pushes to, deletes, or modifies anything in your GitHub account on its own. (Pushing commits you make, from the Development tab, is a separate, explicit action you control. See Live preview and git, in one place.)

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect in Settings → GitHub at any time. Already-cloned private repositories stay exactly as they are. Disconnecting only affects future imports and pulls, not projects you’ve already brought in.
