Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most.
Does FLY8HT upload my code anywhere?
No. Everything, including cloning, building and running, happens on your own computer. FLY8HT has no server that stores or even sees your project’s code.
Do I need an account?
No, not for importing a public repository or a local folder. Signing in is entirely optional (Google, Microsoft, GitHub, or email), and it’s a separate thing from connecting GitHub for private-repository access. See Connecting GitHub for private repositories.
Is FLY8HT free?
Yes.
Does it work on Windows and Linux, not just macOS?
Yes. Real installers are published for all three on every release (an .exe for Windows, an AppImage for Linux), and every push is verified on genuine macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu runners before a release goes out.
What happens to a project if I remove it from FLY8HT?
For a GitHub-imported project, FLY8HT deletes the cloned copy it made; the original repository on GitHub is completely untouched. For a local folder, FLY8HT only removes it from its own list; your actual folder on disk is never touched or deleted. Either way, FLY8HT always asks you to type the project’s name to confirm first.
Can I use a different code editor than VS Code?
Yes. Cursor is supported too, and Settings → Development lets you pick one explicitly or leave it on auto-detect. See Editing code without leaving FLY8HT.
What if my question isn’t covered here?
Email support@fly8ht.app. A real person reads every message.
